Why South America?
Somebody inquired about the impact of the current fuel crisis on fuel prices about a week ago. As an expert in airline native software, I can price future travel based on past prices, so I pulled a selection of airfares to assess the impact.
The airfare data focuses on business class travel, as this is the cabin I typically work with to provide the most value. All rates listed are the lowest possible rate for that airline, route, and date. These are all premium cabins, specifically business class on widebody aircraft and first class on narrowbody aircraft.
Fuel Crisis Impact on Premium Airfares
A selection of airfares was pulled to assess the impact of the current fuel crisis on fuel prices, comparing today's lowest rate with the lowest rate for travel priced on January 31st. The data focuses on premium cabins—business class on widebody aircraft and first class on narrow-bodied aircraft—as these rates typically provide the most value. Based on one metric, the Central and South American market appeared far less affected than others.
